At Porthselau the underlying rocks are among the oldest in this part of the county. The Cambrian basal conglomerate was formed about 570 million years ago and is a colourful mix of pebbles and cobbles. Just to the east of the route is Upper Treleddyn, a farm that was once home of a local heroine.
